Suffer Together Coaching

I'm an Australian runner based in Sweden, and I spend much of my time training in the mountains of Graubünden in Switzerland. My focus is trail running, and I compete in ultra-distance races.

I coach runners at every level, from elites to recreational runners. The one thing I ask is that you're committed to your goals and take your training seriously.

A coach gives many things: tailored programming, workout analysis, goal setting, emotional support, and everything in between. I see my role — the thing I try to be excellent at — as working out which of those you need most, and giving you that, so you improve faster than you would alone.

I'm an economist by background and a data nerd, so your plan is built from your own training history rather than a template. I also commit to my athletes to stay at the frontier of exercise physiology, and to put the best current endurance science into the plans I write.

I coach a small group, so the experience is genuinely one-to-one.

Thanks - I'm reviewing your request

Your account's set up. I've been notified and will email you as soon as I've approved your request - that email includes a link straight into your intake. No need to do anything else here in the meantime.

Step 1 of 3

Connect or upload training history

I use your activity history to understand paces, zones and your historic training load. Choose your source and follow the upload steps below.

Training data

Choose Strava or manual upload above.

Strava connects in seconds. No Strava? Upload files instead.

Get workouts on your watch

Connect intervals.icu

This is how each session lands on your watch on the right day, and how the data comes back to me afterwards. intervals.icu is free, and it handles signing you up if you don't have an account yet.

One more thing to do over there once you're connected: click your name (top left) → Settings → Connections, connect your watch brand (COROS, Garmin, Suunto, Wahoo, Polar) and tick "Upload planned workouts". That is the link that carries a session from intervals.icu onto the watch itself.

Not now? You can finish this form and connect later from your Settings page - it won't hold up your plan request.

Having trouble connecting?

Paste your intervals.icu athlete ID instead and I'll add you from my coaching account. Find it on Settings - search "athlete ID" and copy the number that looks like i123456. You'll also need to add me as your coach: intervals.icu/athletes → Add a coach → search Sam Tidswell → send the request, and I'll accept it.

Goal

B-races (optional)

Any other races along the way?

Add any race you're doing on the way to your goal race. I'll cut the days before it back, and build real recovery in afterwards, so it fits the block instead of wrecking it.

Training load

Usual weekly running and longest recent run are pulled automatically from your connected training data (last 4 weeks). Adjust either one if it doesn't look right.

Other disciplines

Add anything they train alongside running, so the plan accounts for the whole week rather than just the run hours.

Thanks for all the info. I'll share your plan shortly.

Your plan unlocks once I've reviewed your training data, checked your zones, and approved the block.
